Baby Mickey for Baby Mason!
These cakes were for Mason who turned 1. His Birthday party theme was Baby Mickey and his mom asked if I could do an 10", 8", and 6" cake to place on top of a 3 tier platter.
The 10" tier was red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. I made a Mickey hat made out of gum paste and placed it on top. The side of the cake was decorated with pastel Mickey heads all around with star accents throughout the cake.
The 8" tier was a chocolate mint cake with chocolate mint buttercream. I quilted the fondant and added pastel polka-dots around the cake.
The 6" cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling. For this cake I made different size stripes and placed them all around the cake adding a multicolored bow on top.
Howdy, Baby!
I made these mini cupcakes for a cowboy themed baby shower. The couple was going to find out what the gender of their baby was the day of their shower. They had their ultrasound technician put the sex of the baby in an envelope and they waited until the day of their shower to open it.
The fondant cowboy hats and boots were made using mini cookie cutters and I accented them with stars and stripes.
The couple found out they were having a BOY! So the cowboy theme was perfect. Congratulations to the Mommy and Daddy to be.

Polka Dot Baby Boy
I made this cake and 3 dozen polka dot cupcakes for my friend's sister's baby shower. She is expecting her first boy, "Connor" in October and the theme of the shower was blue and brown polka dots. My friend gave me a picture of a baby in a box cake and wanted me to make a cake similar incorporating the theme of the party.
The cake was a 6" round cake. The base and lid the box where all made out of cake covered in fondant and the baby was made out of all fondant with sugar eyes and a face drawn on with edible marker. At first I was having trouble with the lid of the box because the cake was sinking into the baby's head. My husband actually help me trouble shoot this one. He suggested putting the cake on a board so it would not sink. Hmm, why didn't I think of that? Probably because of my lack of sleep, but thank God for him it solved my dilemma. So I decided to cover the same size board as the cake in fondant and place the cake on top it, it worked perfectly. Before placing the lid back on the cake I added 2 dowels to the back of the cake and 1 dowel down the baby's head to support the weight of the lid. The lid looked so much neater once it was complete and I was a happy camper again.
The cupcakes were decorated with different circle pieces to match the theme of the party. Connor's aunts made a very cute back drop of different size brown and blue circles cascading down behind the candy bar. The cake and cupcakes where in the center of the candy bar on a glass tier and everything tied together perfectly.
The Googly Eyed Monsters
I made three dozen of these googly eyed monster cupcakes for my mom's best friend's daughter, who was also a childhood friend of mine. She is expecting her 1st child (a boy) and these were the awesome creatures decorating her shower.
My mom forwarded me a picture of these bad boys and I mimicked them the best I could. The basic tools I used for both monsters were an oval cutter, round cutter, square cutter, edible marker, and an exact-o knife. I really enjoyed making these cute little creatures and I thought it was such a fun and unique theme for a baby shower.

The Deflated Rubber Ducky!
This was a 6" round marble cake with a chocolate ganache filling. The rubber ducky and bubbles were made strictly out of fondant and the center border around the cake was made using a Wilton impression mold. I used a 12mm mold to make the pearls around the base of the cake.
This cake was for my daughter's pre-school teacher who is expecting a baby boy in October. We gave this cake to her along with a baby shower gift from her students during the end of the school year picnic. Before the cake was presented to her however, the cake was accidentally smashed by the school director turning it into a deflated ducky. Too bad I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the aftermath. Nonetheless my daughter's teacher was very touched by the gesture and everything her students, parents, and school staff did for her that day.
